First-Year Writing & AI: A Critical Literacy Process

Project Overview

In process and in conversation with our FYW instructor community and other University partners and resources, we will develop policy, processes, and model curriculum to support a critical literacy approach to AI that aligns with our 8 Guiding Frameworks. The aim of our work will be to support our instructors and our first year writing students in an exploration of the affordances and constraints of generative AI in the development of writing, critical thinking, and research skills and to support instructors and students in making effective choices as they navigate an ever-evolving landscape of writing technologies.
