AI feedback for revision of Concept Maps in Introductory Biology
Project Overview
Students will utilize feedback from AI (Microsoft CoPilot) to revise concept maps that were generated in the classroom. Students will receive guidance on how to write effective prompts. After receiving feedback students will critically evaluate the AI provided feedback to build an improved concept map. They will write a brief response to the feedback that includes citations from class resources or reliable resources. This process will build biological knowledge and develop critical thinking skills regarding AI use. Students will complete this process for half of the concept maps. Student learning for weeks with AI revision will be compared to student learning on weeks they do not complete this process. Additionally, we will compare achievement of learning between different students based on whether they completed the AI process or not. Finally, team generated maps will be compared to the revised map to determine if revised concept maps demonstrate evidence of increased learning.
