Empowering the Next Generation: GenAI in Software Development

Project Overview

"This project investigates the integration of Generative AI (GenAI) within the Software Development curriculum for Computer Science majors at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Central to our approach is the empowerment of students through participatory decision-making, allowing them to help shape how GenAI is incorporated into the classroom. Because the introduction of this technology directly influences learning outcomes, our primary focus is teaching students to leverage AI to augment their intelligence rather than merely automate content—a distinction that has become the essential skill for professional success.

At a broader level, this initiative seeks to maximize student potential by establishing a framework for the responsible and effective use of AI. By training students to navigate these tools ethically, we provide them with the critical skills needed to boost their academic performance today and adapt to the evolving demands of the global workforce tomorrow."
