WRDS Workshops: Business Writing, Research, and Data Storytelling with AI
Project Overview
WRDS (“words”) is a set of hands-on workshops in Business Communication focused on Writing, Research, and Data Storytelling using generative AI. The workshops aim to help students learn how to use AI tools, and to build judgment about when AI improves work and when it weakens clarity, credibility, or learning.
Using Gemini, Gems, & NotebookLM, students work on business communication tasks and review the results. Activities include training AI tools to check writing for Plain English, examining how AI changes research and synthesis, and comparing different levels of AI assistance when turning data into visual stories.
Across all three workshops, the focus stays on how AI is used and evaluated in practice. Students compare outputs, discuss limits, and look closely at how AI use affects clarity, understanding, and decision-making.
